Laura Lockett

Laura Lockett developed her passion for Watercolor while taking a class with Anita De Carlo through the MontereyAdultSchool from 1994-97.  Since Jan. 2007 she has been actively pursuing her love for Watercolor as often as her time permits. She has studied  with locally known artists, on the MontereyPeninsula and in Paso Robles she studied with Tom Fong , considered one of the top teachers in America.  She is inspired  by the work of nationally known Watercolorist and author, Mary Whyte, and has studied with her in Charleston and Greenville, South Carolina.  Recently she has had the opportunity to paint en  Plein Air with noted Watercolorist, Dan Tellep of SaratogaCA.

Laura’s desire to capture the beauty and color of subjects that inspire and move her constantly drives her to explore her technique.  Although a native of California, she spent her childhood in Virginia where her parents owned a travel agency.  Her teen years she lived in Mexico City where her Mother was a travel writer.  She graduated from ChapmanCollege in OrangeCA with a BA.  She has been working over 35 years as a Certified Travel Consultant, and has lived on The MontereyPeninsula over  32 years.
