Carol Lefever

As a full-time high school art teacher I dabble in every medium and look forward to the day when I can devote all my energy to making art. I am often asked by my students and others who my favorite artist is. I used to say Gauguin, but really I can't decide. I love all kinds of art, and especially appreciate those artists who seek beauty. I am fascinated by how the patterns of color and light that are reflected to us from the world can be so immaculately recreated on canvas by the discerning eye and the responsive hand. That pure abstract color and shape can speak directly to the emotions; that my eyes can be so tickled by imaginative images. When approaching a canvas I like to say yes to the miraculous forces that allow me to share in the possibilities of human capacity paired with the unseen.
