The black wire sculpture of the Dowitcher is part of a sculpture series warning of the environmental dangers that exist to marsh birds with the draining of their habitat for development. The Dowitcher is wrapped in painted tissue and mounted on layered newspaper rocks. The rocks are painted with watercolor and ink and enhanced with encaustic wax. Copper strips painted with ink and acid to induce a patina wrap around the newspaper paper rocks. The sculpture stands on a long black piece of plexi.
